Create you own spindle christmas trees from old or new spindles. I purchased these a few years ago from Lowes and intended to use them for something, but they just sat in the garage until yesterday. I had a brain storm moment and here's what I ended up with. First I drilled holes up and down the sides of each spindle, staggering the holes.
But before I drilled a single hole, I started with this. And... after hanging out in the garage for a couple of years, she became a little distressed on her own and she's perfect for my needs.
Next I cut up some old garland, some I haven't used in a few years, and now I am glad I kept it. You never know what you may need. I cut into lots and lots and lots of pieces.
Then the fun began. I inserted pieces of greenery into each hole until it was covered. Then I trimmed the pieces as needed to create the shape I wanted.
I did this to three spindles. I like things in threes.
Then another thought hit me. What do I put on top? These little toppers were the tops of four posters on a bed I recently trashed as it had split somehow. I saved these and threw them in my arsenol for later. Again, glad I saved them because I knew some idea would put them to good use.
Whoever created hot glue and the gun was a genius. So, I chopped off the attached little wood post and made them flat, hot glued them to the top of my little spindle trees, and they could not be cuter.
Ooo! I need cream on my rough hands.
Okay, okay, the top of one is a little damaged, but I call that character, right?
